About Providence Christian School

Providence Christian School began operation in the fall of 1978 with eighteen students in Kindergarten through grade 5.  Thirty-three years later, PCS has grown to the capacity for 200 students in Four-Year-Old Kindergarten (4K) through grade 8.  Many changes have occurred at PCS over the years, but academic excellence and teaching the truth of Jesus Christ has not.

Providence Christian School (PCS) maintains small class sizes with a target size of 20 in Kindergarten (morning and afternoon classes) and 22 in grades 1-8.  Our 4K program offers two 3 day/week classes (MWF; mornings and afternoons), with a maximum of 15 students in each class.  PCS utilizes a variety of Christian curricula (including Bob Jones University Press and A Beka).  Conversational Spanish is incorporated in the curriculum in grades 4K through 5 and is offered as an elective in Middle School (grades 6-8). Extra-curricular activities include Drama Club, Spanish club Viva El Espanol, and Band.  Chapel is held weekly, with separate Chapel periods for grades 4K & K; grades 1-3; and grades 4-8.

PCS emphasizes servant leadership and provides many training opportunities for students.  Community outreach events include our annual Veterans Day program, Grandparents and Senior Pals Day, and visits to local area convalescent centers.  Students participate in a myriad of Ministry projects every year.

Providence Christian School is an interdenominational school, which establishes Christian truth as a guide for life by teaching biblical truth.  PCS admits students of any race, color, or national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school.  It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, or national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admission policies, and athletic and other school-administered programs.  Our doors are open to people of all races and national origins because of the love of God, as manifested in the ministry to redemption through Jesus Christ, intended for all people who receive it.  To this end, Providence Christian School is pleased to serve Christian families in El Dorado County.  Providence Christian School is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
